Professionally trained in screen acting, stunts, and weapon use, Mia Ruiz is a Houston, Texas native working now in LA as an actor and producer. Her recent screen credits include roles in Texas-made films as a neurologist in the Shedrick Cortez-Stokes film Joy Comes In The Morning, a single parent struggling with substance abuse in Highway Stories directed by Sam Rivas, and the saboteur of a family crime business in the Jeremiah Joe Ocañas film B.O.O.S.T. (2015). She's also in the midst of producing a dramedy film called 12 Reasons Why Men Cheat, In the wake of a wedding catastrophe, a man and a woman sit amongst the chaos, discussing what women want to know most.

Mia trained in stunts and stage combat with Eugene Solfanelli, Geo Corvova, and Mark Chavarria, and Jackson Burns. She's proficient wielding sticks, swords, and knives, as well as handling fight choreography, falling from stairs, jumping through windows, and precision driving. Also, Mia is trained in hand gun and rifle use, including Glocks, revolvers, shotguns, and the AK-15, thanks to The Arms Room in Texas.

She's studied acting with a variety of industry professionals in New York, including acting, marks, scene study, monologues with Tom Todoroff and voice work with Elena Lee, Susan Cameron, and masks with Miriam Silverman. In LA, she studied acting with Tom Logan, and in Texas she has studied film acting with Deke Anderson, John Lansch, and Gary Chason and commercial acting with Eleese Lester.

Before moving west, Mia worked in Texas on the Sci-Fi thriller Turning The Hands Of Time (2016), developed as a pilot project for a prominent cable network. Directed by Gary Chason, Mia played a detective's wife whose life is in danger when she finds a suspicious package at work. Other film work includes the killer demon in the Joe Grisaffi horror short Don't Look In The Attic (2010), the role of a clerical worker in Dennis Devine's horror comedy feature Fat Planet (2013), and a mother in the midst of family crisis in the an anti-drug period piece Acid Test (2016) directed by Jenny Waldo. Mia also hosted Redneck Archaeologist, a Texas history show developed by Jackson Burns.

Lean and athletic, Mia grew up highly involved in a variety of team sports, including basketball, softball, and soccer. Her standout sport was track and she remains active as a runner today. Born in McAllen, Texas and raised in the Houston area, she is the youngest of 8 siblings. She's currently In the wake of a wedding catastrophe, a man and a woman sit amongst the chaos, discussing what women want to know most. collaborating with one of her sisters on a film as part of her mission to create projects that empower all women.

Mia is looking forward to connecting and working with others to use the medium of film as a tool for change and the opportunity to send a positive message through her work.
