Claire Bennett, 19, is an intelligent, high-spirited young woman, still reeling from the sudden death of her father. Claire lives with her mother, Jenn Bennett, 45, a nurse who spends her spare time researching her heritage on Ancestry.com. Jenn becomes fascinated when one of her searches turns up an unclaimed Wisconsin cabin in Claire’s name. When Claire and Jenn go to investigate, they find themselves entwined in a magical adventure.

We go back to World War II, when the cabin was occupied by Claire's grandmother, Nell Parker, a British spy who served in Winston Churchill’s Psychological Warfare Department, formed to counter Nazi Germany’s fascination with the occult. Nell Parker joined the American forces, led by Sergeant Aaron Crabtree, when they assaulted Hitler’s secret police to confiscate the world’s largest collection of priceless occult artifacts. Nell Parker inevitably disappeared with the Nazi treasure, never to be seen or heard from again.

Back in the present day we are introduced to Karl Macher, a ruthless and powerful mining company owner, has long searched for this treasure. Claire and Jenn arrive at the Bad River Indian Reservation, and are escorted to the cabin by Ashland County Sheriff Banks, who is on Macher's payroll.

While exploring her new property, Claire meets Oscar Talega, a local Chippewa Indian boy whose grandfather was very close friends with Nell Parker. Macher is tipped off about Claire and Jenn snooping around the cabin, and hires local Neo-Nazi leader Junior Bridges, to help him get rid of anyone who gets in their way of the Nazi treasure. Oscar tries to protect Claire from Macher and Bridges, as she learns more about her grandmother's magical powers through a series of journals she finds in the cabin. Nell Parker’s magic, though, is tied to the one true source of real power, Mother Earth and the Goddesses that serve her, and Claire discovers a vibrant world with dynamics ready to assist her, and where the divine is all around her. With her newfound powers, Claire saves her mom and herself, ensuring the survival of her fabled ANCESTRY.
